Gar Norin - 'The Maelstrom'

The protagonist of a series I've worked on personally for some 7 years now. Nothing published of course, just stuff done for my own amusement.

Story:

Every 10,000, two souls are born that bare the power of the Azeth Star. The Starchild, usually female...is born with the power to evoke light upon all. To literally create life with a mere thought. To manipulate the energy of the cosmos to her will. For this reason, The Starchild is heralded in the universe as "The Creator". During the period of the Starchild's existence, the universe enjoys peace and prosperity.

The other soul born is the opposite of the Starchild. This soul, born male...is The Maelstrom, aka The Destroyer. Doomed to carry within him the power to destroy worlds. A brutal, violent energy that eventually consumes it's barer, signaling what the Azethan culture calls "The Crucibal". For the last 50,000, by way of the royal Azethan Priests, they have been able to tame the dormant power of the last 5 Maelstroms. But many moons ago, they miscalculated the next birth. While the Starchild was born into royalty...the noble house of Elrox. The Maelstrom was born on a far off world outside of Azethan rule known as Vol. Garomodes "Gar" Norin was born and bred a warrior. Son of a Volan general, the battlefield was where he was raised. And upon coming of age, The Maelstrom began to take form within his soul.

Now a young man, Gar's journey begins. What starts as a simple battle against rival clans on his homeworld, will become an epic journey to the far reaches of Azethan space. Can he escape his dark destiny, or will he be the 1st Maelstrom in 50,000 years to succumb to it's power, and bring about the end of Azethan civilization?

Only time will tell.
